On a Beautiful Day

Original short story. I am an atheist. This is not an argument, it is an history about why religion spreads because it is simpler to explain, though not simpler in the scientific sense. _____________________________ On a beautiful day, looking at a magnificent sunset at the horizon, Paul asked to his scientific friend Jack "Do you see this world? Why is it like it is?" "Well," said Jack. "Come in university, we will teach you. You can learn Mathematics, Big Bang theory, Cosmology, Quantum mechanics, Information theory, Thermodynamics, Nuclear physics, Optics, Acoustics, Fluid dynamics, General relativity, Galaxy, star and planet formation, Geology, Geography, Seismology, Meteorology, Abiogenesis, Heredity, Natural selection, Paleontology, Anthropology, Sociology, Ethnology, Linguistics, Historical Linguistics, Psychology, Memetics, Child development, Medical science, Pharmacology, Nutrition, Cognitive science, Neurology, History, Economy, Political Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, System Theory You could even step into philosophy, particularly philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, epistemology, and metaphysics that shall also help you understand the world. Then after several decades of...", but then Jack was interrupted by a priest passing by. "Come Paul," said the priest who had heard the conversation. "Did you ever hear about God?" And the priest walked Paul away, explaining him how God had made it all and telling him stories from a book. "But Paul," shouted Jack. "Science explains it much more simply than the God-hypothesis!"

The Cost of Oil: Voices from the Arctic (Trailer)

This film is an outline of the effects of offshore oil production in the Arctic Ocean just off the coast of northern Alaska. The native people have lived off the land for over 2000 years using the resources provided by the ocean. The plan for offshore oil development in this region has posed a huge threat to these people's way of life. Not only will oil drilling have an impact on their subsistence lifestyle, but their cultural heritage may also be at risk. The film is a compilation of interviews with the native peoples living on the North Slope of Alaska and expert geophysicists, biologists, oil production specialists, environmentalists, linguists and ethnologists. These interviews have been added to footage taken from the arctic tundra of Alaska resulting in a powerful piece that shows some of the imminent danger that the world may face in drilling for oil in the dangerous Arctic Ocean. Arvanites - Aristeides Kollias /Aristidh Kola

Arvanites - Studies and books for Arvanites Arvanites - Kostas Biris Biris was a folklorist and an architect. His book "Arvanites, the Dorians of modern Hellenism, history of Arvanites Greeks" (1960) is a thorough study on Arvanites and it is the most referenced work by other scholars who studied Arvanites. Arvanites - Maria Michael-Dede Maria Michael-Dede is an author of literature and an ethnologist. She has written two books about Arvanitic songs (1978) and the book The Greeks Arvanites (1997). Arvanites - Aristeides Kollias Aristidh Kola Kollias, a lawyer by profession, performed ethnologist studies on Arvanites. In his book "Arvanites and the origin of the Greeks" (1983), Kollias promotes the Pelasgian theory that identifies the Pelasgians with the Arvanites. Kollias states that Greek people and Albanian people were closer in the past than they are during the last two centuries and that they both descend from the Pelasgians. His rejection of the Indo-European theory and his theory that Arvanitika is very close (if not identical) to the Homeric Greek have been criticized, however his work on Arvanitic culture is generally accepted. Arvanites - Thanasis Moraitis Thanas Moraiti Moraitis had worked with Kollias for some time, and he did an extensive search on Arvanitic music. In his book "Arvanitika Songs", he documents about 150 songs, analyzes their musical structure, and also has texts by linguists and historians about Arvanitic history, culture and the Arvanitic language. Some have argued that Arvanites are descended from early inhabitants of Greece (Pelasgians). They are linguistically related to Albanians. Arvanites are predominantly Greek Orthodox in religious adherence. Their language, Arvanitika, shares a common origin with standard Albanian and has been heavily influenced by the Greek language with which it has come into contact. The language is in decline due to emigration from Arvanitic-speaking villages to the Greek-speaking cities. Along with Tsakonian, Arvanitic has obtained the status of a "protected" languge.Sample of Arvanitika arvanitika http://www.arvasynel.gr/arvanitikoi_dialogoi.html Eni te tzem Arberiste. Xpedition into civilisation

Let's imagine that for a long time we humans have been the object of study by an astonished alien species; let's imagine that our universe is lying under a microscope on the specimen stage in a parallel universe. The unknown observers send out space probes which aim to fi nd out the inner workings of the civilization of us two-legged creatures and the forces holding it together. What would the reports from these expeditions look like? Which resulting theses, misunderstandings and odd explanations would they contain? Like the eye of the ethnologist, the visitors seek to understand from within without preconceived notions. Observations and careful soundings are the means with which these insights are obtained.

Nature Parks RAPA NUI Eastern Islands / Chile

NPM-DVD-132 - Those who live on Easter Island call it, Rapa Nui. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the island is located on the eastern point of the Polynesian Triangle of which Hawaii and New Zealand make up the other two. Today, Rapa Nui has a population of 3000 that consists of 34 clan families. For two hundred and fifty years a multitude of ethnologists and archaeologists from all over the world have come to discover the secrets of this mysterious island. It contains around six hundred bizarre stone monuments known as 'Moais' that measure between four and ten metres high. The island's large, angry-looking statues have sharp, elongated heads, long, narrow ears, deep-set eyes and thin lips. A large number of the first inhabitants' cruel rituals took place on the island's steep coast. It was there that many were sacrificed in the name of the gods. Ahu Tongariki was the island's largest location for cult ceremonies and its Moais point straight toward the island's volcano. The stone structures that are situated at Orongo, a former place of ritual, are cave-like buildings in which the dead were entombed within small stone chambers known as 'Ahus'. During the 1950's the Norwegian researcher Thor Heyerdahl spent an entire year on Rapa Nui. When first discovered, not one of the figures stood on its original foundation but with the aid of the islanders Heyerdahl managed to re-erect a single Moai. Beginning in 1935 and for the next 30 years, the German pastor, Sebastian Englert, searched the island for its secrets. Today, his discoveries are on display in a museum and one of the finds, a skull, has been expertly reconstructed and now reveals the appearance of one of the island's original inhabitants. Over the years none of the island's simple appeal and fascinating mystique has faded and Easter Island is one of the largest cultural and natural treasures in the world and a much-prized heritage of civilisation.

IS IT OUR TRIDITION

Balouch is a nation consisting of 500 tribes, their tradition and commonly values are similar. This nation lives in a vast land called Balouchistan located in easter part of Asia north of Gulf penisala occupied by three modern countries Iran, Pakistan and Afghanstan. The history of the Baloch is, however, still in dark. Research scholars have different opinions. Some say they belong to the northern regions of Elburz, now inhabited by Ashkanis, originally Aryans. Some historians maintain that they came from Halab, Allepe, and are Semites.Neither should one object on these methods for historical research, nor doubt the fact that there had been an admixture of various people with Baloch like the Scythians, Pathians, Ashkanis, Sakas, Kushans, Huns, Turks and many others; nor contest the proposition that Baloch, culturally, were greatly influenced by Tigris-Euphrates civilization at different stages of history. The origin of the word 'Baloch' is still unknown. E. Herzefeld believes that it is derived from brza-vaciya, which came from brza-vak, a Median word meaning a loud cry, in contrast to namravak, quiet, polite way of talking. Some writers maintain that the Baloch owe their name to Babyloian King 'Belus'. ( The Tribe Of Namrood Belus) also the name of their God . Some writers believe that etymologically it is made of two Sankrit words, `Bal` and `Och`. `Bal` means strength or power, and `Och`, high or magnificent. The word `Baloch' therefore, means very powerful and magnificent. Yet another erroneous version is that Baloch mean `nomad` or `wanderer`. This has been presumed perhaps due to the innocent use of the word for nomadic people, and may be because of the fact that the term may be used by indigenous settlers for the Baloch nomads. The first Baloch migration from the Caspian See region, most probably around 1200 B.C., must have been motivated by this general historical phenomenon. They first settled in northern Persia. I have the authority of Persion poet, Firdousi (935-1020 A.D.) and also strong historical evidences that the Baloch were a political and military force during the times of Cyrus and Combyses. The Baloch have always been referred by the ancient chroniclers with Koch who appear to be the original inhabitants of Balochistan before the Baloch arrival and also with Kurds. Many ethnologists believe that the Kurds belong to the Median branch of Aryan tribes who were mixed up with many people of indigenous origin and later invaders including Semites, Armenians and Turkomans. in 745 B.C the kurd has modified the music called "LEWA" .. LEWA mean a king of the "TUNE" ... in short moment as i have searched about "LEWA". it has contained with typical tuned of miscellenous music. the "LEWA" has made for refreshment . when i was a kid i have heard a balouchi "LEWA" which has been created by my great singer "JAROK" (LATE) .. it was make myself warm and smooth i really enjoyed . it's really worked .. and now as i am a gentle i watched a lewa in my freinds wedding ceremony . i am submitting the said video and wants your opinion that is it our tridition? or we are come from any region of Africa. or we are?

Journey To Kafiristan

Scenes from the 2001 drama "Journey To Kafiristan" (Co-production Germany-The Netherlands-France). Set in 1939 with Europe on the verge of World War, two adventurous Swiss women embark on a journey to one of the last unexplored regions of earth. Based on actual events, writer Annemarie Schwarzenbach and ethnologist Ella Maillart are running from both the political changes occuring at home and from themselves. This movie is not for everyone. It resembles a film that might have been made in the time in which it is set. Slow paced with no graphic violence or sex, it is more of a psychological study of the two main characters and their developing love that is never consummated. I love this movie for it's beautiful cinematography and amazing story of women on both a physical and spiritual journey into the unknown. Highly recommended.
